Posted at 17 Aug 2020

Join us as we take a trip down memory lane as part of Campbelltown City Council, NSW #2020 celebrations
August 2020 marks 46 years since our inception, the original venue behind Campbelltown’s first and oldest Rugby League Team. Having hit just a few milestones in between, Wests is now a part of the Macarthur areas premier dining and entertainment group. Enjoy looking through the Journey – we certainly have!

1908/1909 – History

The story begins back in 1908/1909 with the original rugby league team of Campbelltown; the Kangaroos (then known as the Wallabies). This was the first and longest running football club in Campbelltown.

1972Notice of Construction

In support of the Kangaroos, Campbelltown was to have a new licensed sporting venue, the Campbelltown City Rugby League Football club limited. The Campbelltown City Rugby league Club administered the local Kangaroos football club, and the major objective to foster the code of rugby league in the region.

The Campbelltown City Rugby League Club officially opened in 1974 with a vision of not only supporting the Campbelltown City Rugby League Football Club but also to encourage community sporting events throughout the local Macarthur region. On opening the Leumeah club with approximately 430 members.
