Winter glow up for Sunflower Cottage
Caring for someone with high support or medical needs can be tough, and sometimes a weekend away can make all the difference. Sunflower Cottage, operated by Disability Macarthur, provides up to four (4) nights respite for children and adults 8 – 65 years, giving parents and carers a much-needed break and opportunity to recharge. With a maximum of 4 children/adults and 2 specialised support staff at all times, Sunflower Cottage is equipped for high care needs including tube feeding, assistance with toileting and bathing, and challenging behavioural disorders. The cottage is purpose-built with many safety features including one-key entry and secure fencing.
The exterior of the cottage however, has seen better days and with the cottage nestled under gum trees with months of wetter weather over the past two years, the time has come for the Cottage to receive an overdue winter glow up.
The team at Wests Group Macarthur will be rolling up their sleeves to help revamp the cottage, which includes a general outdoor tidy up to remove green waste and debris, gutter cleaning and gutter guard installation and demolition and replacement of the outdoor gazebo. The working bee which will take place over 2 days, will see the cottage and its visitors, receive a new lease on the outdoor area by providing them a safe and accessible space.
The works are being completed with the support of ClubGRANTS and is scheduled for July. For more information on the services offered at Sunflower Cottage by Disability Macarthur, visit https://disabilitymacarthur.org.au/services/sunflower-cottage/.
