Wests Group Macarthur Celebrates 50 Years!
West Group Macarthur was thrilled to celebrate 50 years of Wests League Club on Saturday 31st August, exactly 50 years on from the official opening of the venue back in 1974.
We gathered not just to mark a milestone for the club, but to honour a legacy that has been built over half a century with many foundation directors, management and staff, and members of the Campbelltown City Kangaroos family that has been associated to both clubs. In addition, the event welcomed a list of esteemed guests, cherished partners, long-term employees, as well as a professional network of friends who have supported Wests along the way.
Following an extensive member and community engagement plan, as well as significant promotional campaign that started in January, the event was the final element of a carefully curated history program with the 50th Anniversary Publication written by local Historian Jeff McGill within the guest bags for the evening and available via the touch screens at Wests League Club. The sophisticated event dazzled its guests with curated history displays, image galleries and videos and featured a modern take on a 70’s style menu and special performances from a Mirror ball acrobat and award-winning tribute show The Vallies performing hits from Frankie Vallie & The Four Seasons, rock and disco hits.
This club was opened with the vision of “providing members and guests a social club with first-class facilities and to assist generally in the promotion and propagation of sport and community”. There is no doubt this is still very much the focus of everything we do today.
On the night we also treated members across any Wests Group Venue to a $50,000 Members Cash DRAW promotion with 10 x winners walking away with $5000 cash – our single biggest cash promotion ever.
